GSC 2015/16 previews: West Ham

The penultimate preview is for West Ham. Is Slaven Bilic the man to take them to the next level after Allardici’s sacking?

Thanks to Chris for this one; he ran a GSC money minileague last year but that won’t be needed this time as the winner of the main game will get a decent prize (to be announced in the next couple of days).

Best GSC performance: 22 goals & 9th (2012/13), 23 goals & 10th (2013/14)
First-choice line-up: There will be a lot of rotation this season assuming we get to the group stage of the Europa League. Let’s go with:
Adrian; Jenkinson, Cresswell, Ogbonna, Reid; Noble, Kouyate, Obiang; Valencia, Payet; Sakho
Carroll will be useful if ever fit and no space sadly for Tomkins or captain Kevin Nolan in a fully fit team.

Predicted finishing position: I’d take top 10 although my prediction is 12th and a few cup runs. As long as we stay up this season I’m happy.

Predicted top scorer: Sakho if fit.

Main penalty taker: Noble. I think we’ve got some decent penalty takers at the club now, Cresswell, Payet and can’t forget Adrian’s belter in the Everton shoot-out. Gloves off and Wallop!! Dicks on the coaching staff too.

Main direct free-kick taker: Cresswell or Payet. Maybe Zarate if he ever gets a game.

The best fixture to pick a West Ham player: Kiss of death but we always seem to do well against Swansea. Watford used to be a good one too, even Joey O’ Brien scored against them.

A West Ham youngster you might want to pick: Elliot Lee (Rob Lee’s son) should get a run out this year particularly in earlier rounds of the cups. He’s scored in Europe already and don’t let his porky appearance put you off. Unlikely to play many full league games.

A West Ham player to pick for international weeks: Tough one as we don’t have many internationals. Probably Enner Valencia as he plays a more advanced role for Ecuador.

General GSC tip for new players: Save a few biggies for the second half of the season, and avoid picking Carlton Cole if he joins another Premiership club.

Anything else: Second guess the real life managers, particularly of those clubs playing in Europe.
