One of the most common questions I get asked is whether I’m going to build a GSC app. The main attraction of an app would be to get push notifications so people don’t miss any weeks. The answer to that question is that I would love to build an app, but can’t really justify the outlay when I don’t make any money from the game. But, good news! I’ve figured out a way of getting notifications to your phone.
Below are the steps you need to take to add the GSC calendar to your iphone. I assume most smartphones will have a similar set of steps, but if you need those you’ll have to google them I’m afraid.
– Mail, Contacts, Calendars
– Add Account
– Add Subscribed Calendar
Then paste in the ICS link: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/goalscorerchallenge%40gmail.com/public/basic.ics
At some point I’ll add all 46 gameweeks for the season. I’ve set alerts to default 15 minutes before each week’s deadline, but you should be able to change them. Make sure your notifications (in settings/notifications/calendars) are set to on and you should get push notifications.
Alternatively, the HTML link to view the calendar is https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=goalscorerchallenge%40gmail.com&ctz=Europe/London
Easy as that! Hopefully you’ll find this really useful; I know a lot of people have been after something like this for a while so let me know if it works or not.
